Blue Flag Equestrian was founded with the purpose of improving the quality of life for each horse we get the opportunity to know. Horsemanship and riding skills go hand in hand to facilitate understanding and cooperation between horse and rider, aiming to help your horse by helping you. Anna's strives for each student to know the 'why' behind the practices, techniques, and skills she teaches so you can feel confident in becoming the trainer and manager of your horse.
Anna values cultivating partnership while producing each horse and rider correctly and methodically through the levels. With a specialty in Eventing, she aims to produce content, self-going horses that demonstrate willingness and confidence for any discipline. She uses the dressage pyramid of training as a framework for development of solid flatwork skills, along with her keen eye and intuitive approach to guide each horse into better balance and every pair towards harmony.

Services Offered
Instruction
Private riding lessons focus on developing strong fundamentals, improving feel, and progressing through skills while fostering partnership with your horse.
Anna travels to your location for instruction and training on your own horse, and teaches live video (virtual) lessons with Pivo, Pixem, and WhatsApp. Contact to inquire about haul-in lessons.
Anna teaches students from the advanced beginner level, ages 12 and up. She enjoys working with adult amateurs, and has helped several clients get to know their first horse, return to riding after injury, compete in their first show, and contest US Eventing Championships. She is a Level 2 USEA Certified Coach, developing clients from Intro through Training level Eventing competition and 2nd level Dressage.

Training
Horse training from first steps under saddle to championship level skills, Anna works in natural progression while considering all aspects of wellness to produce happy, sound horses and create positive experiences. She specializes in green horses and OTTBs for eventing and dressage, and welcomes all types and levels of horses. Each training session is customized to your horse's needs to promote balance, strength, confidence and understanding.

Competition Coaching
Anna coaches at recognized and unrecognized competitions throughout the year for students competing in dressage, jumpers, and eventing. Goal setting and competition season planning are incorporated into your instruction if your desires lead to the show ring.
Unmounted coaching sessions are also encouraged for riders looking to improve their mindset and relationships to riding, their horse, and their sport.

Service Area
Blue Flag Equestrian's home base is Charlottesville, Virginia.
Anna is a traveling coach for clients in the area, providing services at private and boarding barns. She is open to longer distances for full day or multiple day teaching and training.
Please inquire for availability of haul-in lessons and training.
BFE does not have lesson horses, Anna works with owners to improve skills and relationship with their own horse.
If you are unsure whether your barn is in the service area, contact Anna to find out! She is always happy to talk with interested horse people.
Coaching is available at several recognized competitions across USEA Area 2 and USDF Region 1, and local unrecognized shows. Nearby venues include HITS Culpeper, Virginia Horse Center, Morven Park, and Great Meadow among others. Cross country schooling is available at Win Green, Plain Dealing, and Milltop in the immediate area.
